ATBA-UK - Entering Events

ALL TERRAIN BOARDING ASSOCIATION

The National Governing Body for Mountainboarding in the UK

Entering an Event

The ATBA-UK International Series is an open competition. This means that entry is available to anyone in the UK. The important thing is that registration is completed in plenty of time. It is also important to note that there are significant discounts available to entry fees for both advance entry & ATBA-UK Membership. We strongly recommend that anyone contemplating entering an ATBA-UK event join the ATBA-UK. You can find further information on joining the ATBA-UK, and the benefits it brings here

It will cost an ATBA-UK member £30 to register for a single discipline at an ATBA-UK event. Should a member decide to enter both boardercross & freestyle at an event, then they will have to pay £40 to register for the weekend. Prospective entrants who are not members of the ATBA-UK will have to pay an additional £10 for one discipline and £15 for both disciplines.

For ATBA-UK members who wish to enter all four rounds of the International Series, it is possible to pre-register for all events in one go. This option drops the price even further, to £90 for one discipline or £135 for both disciplines.

Registration deadlines

If you wish to register in advance, then you need to ensure that all registration documentation reaches us at least 5 days before the first event of the season (so that's the Monday before the first event). This can only be done by post.

After this deadline early registration offers stop and anyone registering after this date or at the actual competitions will pay the full appropriate price for the event(s) they wish to enter.

If you choose to register at the event, then you will need to make sure that you are present when registration is open. It is important to note that registration is open from 1700hrs to 21:30hrs on the Friday for boardercross, and from 09:00hrs till 11:00hrs on the Sunday for freestyle. There is no registration available on Saturday morning - riders wishing to register on site for boardercross must register on the Friday evening. Any rider who is delayed on their journey to the event should phone the Secretary on 07718146878 to inform the event organisers who will record a provisional registration.

What is the Open Elite class?

The Open Elite is the highest level of achievement within the competitions and a level that many riders seek to aspire to. To qualify for the Open Elite riders need to be one of the 16 fastest in qualifying for the boardercross or one of the 16 highest scores to get through to the freestyle Open Elite Jam. All competitors (except for U14´s) are included within the eligibility for the category of Open Elite and there is no opt out so the genuine 16 fastest or highest scorers are those who go through to this category.

Boarder-X

Boarder-X (BX) qualification takes place as per normal. Riders are split into age groups and given 3 runs each down the track. These runs are timed digitally, and the best time is used to seed the rider into the appropriate group. Once qualification is complete, the seeding then takes place.

The fastest 16 riders are automatically placed into the "OPEN ELITE" class. This is irrespective of age and gender (except U14´s)

The remainder of the riders are split into category according to age and gender. These classes are UNDER 14, UNDER 18, SENIORS, LADIES, MASTERS. Please note that with the exception of the Senior category, it is permitted for a rider to step up a race class (EXAMPLE: A rider who is in the Under 18s may step up into the Seniors). This should be done during registration. Similarly, riders in the MASTERS category may elect to race as a SENIOR. Female competitors can elect to compete either in the LADIES, or in the appropriate age category. The top 16 riders in each of these classes is seeded according to their qualifying times, and sorted into 4 man heats.

The racing is in 4 man knockout format. The top 2 riders in each heat progress to the next round. This is done until the final placings are decided.

Freestyle

Competitors will get 2 jumps(runs), and the best scored of these will then be used to seed riders.

The top 16 riders are qualified into the OPEN ELITE class final. As in BX, these riders are chosen without regard to age or gender (except U14´s)

The remainder of riders are split into categories, and take part in the freestyle final for these respective classes. It is important to note that we have no intention of using this qualification round as an opportunity to eliminate riders. EVERYONE will qualify. Riders who have not qualified for the OPEN ELITE class will be given 4 jumps each. The scores of the best 2 of these jumps will be added together. This will produce that rider's final score.

Riders who qualified into the OPEN ELITE category will be given a 45 minute (NB: THIS MIGHT CHANGE) time slot. Riders will compete in a JAM format, and will be allowed to take as many jumps as they wish. The scores of the best 2 jumps will be added together. This will produce that rider's final score.
