- 180 - Freestyle trick involving half a rotation.
- 360 - Freestyle trick involving one complete rotation.
- 520 - Freestyle trick involving one and a half rotations.
- 720 - Freestyle trick involving two complete rotations.

- All Terrain Boarding Association - The National Governing Body for Mountainboarding in the UK.
B
- Backside - A turn, trick or rotation in the direction the riders rear heels are pointing.
- Bail - To purposely fall from the board.
- Big Air - Single freestyle jump.
- Berm - Banked corner to help riders corner on a Boardercross Track.
- Bindings - Strap devices used to secure the rider to the deck.
- Boardercross (BoarderX) - A discipline involving four-man racing on man-made tracks.
- Boardslide - Freestyle trick involving sliding a mountainboard along a grind rail with the deck perpedicular to the rail.
- Brakes - Mechanical device used to slow and stop a mountainboard.
C
- Carve - To turn a mountainboard left to right to control speed or just for fun.
- Channel Trucks - Mechanism on a mountainboard to effect turning.
D
- Dampener - A urethane insert in channel trucks to reduce wobble and improve control.
- Deck - The main part of a Mountainboard.
- Demo - Freestyle display at public shows.
- Double - Two closely spaced rollers on a BoarderX track.
- Downhill - Discipline involving one-man timed descents.
- Drop - A jump in which the landing is below the take-off, includes Rock Drops and Tree Drops.

- Falling Leaf - Advanced speed control technique mostly used on steep slopes.
- Flatland - Sub-discipline of Freestyle involving performing tricks such as on flat ground.
- Freeride - Discipline involving
- Freestyle - Discipline involving jumps and tricks.
- Frontside - A turn, trick or rotation in the direction the riders rear toes are pointing.
G
- Grabs - Freestyle trick involving taking hold of various parts of the deck whilst in the air.
- Goofy - Riding with your right foot forward.
- Grind - Sliding along a surface with the trucks or deck.
- Ground Industries - Mountainboard manufacturer.
H
- Halfpipe - Ramp with two facing transitions.
- Heelside - The edge of the deck under the riders heels. Also a turn or rotation in the direction the riders rear heels are pointing.
- Heelstraps - Straps that hold riders feet into the bindings.
I

- J-Turns - A turn across the slope to stop.
- Jib - Sub-discipline of Freestyle involving creative tricks such as Stalls, Grinds and Spins.
K
- Kicker - A ramp shaped to direct a rider up into the air.
L
- Leash - A board retention device that prevents boards from rolling away from a rider.
M
- Manual - Balancing on the rear wheels whilst riding along.
- MBS - Mountainboard manufacturer.
N
- Nollie - Jumping a mountainboard by lifting the rear wheels first and popping off the front wheels.
- noSno - Mountainboard manufacturer. Specialises in Downhill Boards.

P
- Pads - Protective equipment including elobow pads, knee pads and wristguards.
- Powerslide - Sliding technique used to stop a mountainboard.
Q
- Quarterpipe - A ramp used to perform freestyle tricks, usually at the end of a slopestyle course.
R
- Rail (aka: Grind rail) - A feature used to grind a mountainboard on.
- Regular - Riding with your left foot forward.
- Roller - A shaped feature on a BoarderX track used to generate speed.
- Roll-in - A start ramp used to generate speed.
- Rotations (aka: Spins) - Freestyle tricks such as 180´s and 360´s.

- Scrub - Board manufacturer.
- Scrub - Kicking out speed
- Shifty - Freestyle trick involving rotating the mountainboard up to 90 degrees and back whilst in the air.
- Singletrack - Sub-discipline of Freeride involving riding narrow tracks, usually in the woods.
- Skate Trucks - A type of truck developed from skateboarding.
- Sliding - Speed control technique involving
- Slopestyle - A multi-line multi-hit freestyle park.
- Spine - A skatepark or slopestyle feature.
- Stall - A freestyle trick involving coming to a stop whilst balancing on an object.
- Switch - Riding in the opposite stance.
T
- Tabletop (aka: table) - A freestle jump made up of a kicker ramp, a flat top, and a landing ramp.
- Toeside - The edge of the deck under the riders toes. Also a turn or rotation in the direction the riders rear toes are pointing.
- Trampa - Mountainboard Manufacturer.
- Tyres - Pneumatic tyres for mountainboards come in various sizes including: 6 inch, 8 inch, 9 inch, 10inch and 12 inch.

- Vert pipe - Ramp with two facing transitions that go to vertical.

- Wall Ride - A near-vertical surface to ride on.
