Instructor Training
The ATBA-UK hold the standardisation of the courses and the database of qualified instructors in the UK. The instruction is based on a core of basic safety and instructor skills and add-on courses for more advanced techniques. These are transferable qualifications for all centres and training locations in the UK.
Current Instructor qualifications are valid for 3 years. Courses taken before 2009 are valid for 2 years before a refresher course is needed. The current levels of course available are:
ATBA-UK - Assistant Instructor
- Qualified instructor in basic safety information and instruction techniques to assist more experienced instructors. This level of instructor must be under the immediate supervision of a more advanced instructor.
- (Minimum Age Requirement 16 years)
- (First Aid Qualification recommended)
ATBA-UK - Core Instructor
- Qualified instructor in essential safety information and instruction techniques to supervise and manage other instructors. Capable of teaching safely at any location on standard grass slope with no extra features.
- (Minimum Age Requirement 16 years plus riding experience)
- (First Aid Qualification required)
- (If under 18 then must be closely supervised by 18+ Instructor)
ATBA-UK - Centre Instructor
- Add on course for Core Instructors riding safely with basic small flowing centre features, rollers, banked corners and jumps.
- (Minimum Age Requirement 16 years plus riding experience)
- (First Aid Qualification required)
- (If under 18 then must be closely supervised by 18+ Instructor)
ATBA-UK - Senior Centre Instructor
- Qualified Instructor in essential safety information and instruction techniques for coaching small groups in advanced riding of standard centre features and boarder cross tracks.
- (Minimum Age Requirement 18 years plus advanced riding experience)
- (At least 1 years experience as a qualified instructor)
- (First Aid Qualification required)

Note: Training providers and assessors are appointed by the ATBA-UK on a case by case basis. Minimum age of 21 years and with 5 years mountainboard teaching experience. Please contact the ATBA-UK if you are interested in becoming a training provider or assessor.
