Competition Categories
PRO
The Pro category is a top-end competitive category for the best riders in the world. All riders who have an overall Elite ranking from last season will be in the Pro category. As a Pro rider you'll compete with the other Pro´s all season, there is no qualification to get into the Pro category. Any rider over 14 can choose to compete in the Pro´s. Having ridden in the Pro category, a rider can choose to drop down into their age category in the Am, but they will lose any points earned in Pro competitions.
AM
The Am categories are the open-to-all entry level competitive categories for developing and experienced riders. As an Am rider, you'll be competing against other Am riders of approximately the same age, or the same gender.
The AM is split into four categories:
- Juniors - Riders who are aged 8 to 15,
- Seniors - Riders who are aged 16 to 29,
- Masters - Riders who are aged 30+
- Ladies - Female riders
The cut-off date to decide which category riders will be competing in is the 1st of January 2010. So, if you are now 15 you'll be competing in the Juniors. If you're 16 you'll be in the Seniors with riders who are up to 29 years old.
Boarder X
Boarder X competitions take place on Saturday. Qualification will be through a League System in which riders compete in four-man races to earn their position in the knock-out racing. Once all qualification has finished, thirty-two riders from each category will go forward into knock-outs and compete in order of: Juniors, Ladies, Masters, Seniors, Pros. In four-man knock-out racing the first and second place riders will go forward to the next round of racing with the third and fourth riders dropping out. Each rider´s final position will equal a score for their Season Ranking.
Freestyle
Freestyle competitions take place on Sunday. Riders will jump in their competitive categories, i.e. all Junior riders together. The categories will compete in order of: Juniors, Ladies, Masters, Seniors, Pros. Am Riders will have up to five judged runs with the best three scores counting towards their final and overall result. Pro riders will have up to five judged runs with the best three counting towards their qualification score. This score will be used to qualify a maximum of twenty riders into the Pro Jam. The Pro Jam riders will then have between forty-five minutes and an hour to have as many runs as they want, with the best 4 runs counting to their final score. The scores from the Pro Jam will be used for the Pro Freestyle final results and Season Ranking. The Pro riders who did not qualify for the Pro Jam will receive a final result and Season Ranking based on their qualification score.
Team Challenge
The Team Challenge is a season-long competition to find the best competitive mountainboard team in the country.
Teams can have up to ten riders from any category. Nominate up to five riders who are going to be scoring points for your team before close of registration at each competition, or you can nominate your riders at the start of the season and keep the same five all the way through. Make sure all your team riders are wearing the same shirts or have something on them so we know what team they're in, and we'll take the points of the top scoring three riders and add them to the Team Score.
Take a look at the Team Challenge Rules and then download the Entry Form and return it to join@atbauk.org.
Results, Season Rankings and Overall Rankings
Riders who come first, second or third in Boarder X or Feestyle will have a place on the podium at the end of the competition and at the end-of-season prize-giving in September.
All riders who enter either BoarderX or Freestyle will earn points based on their final position, but must enter at least three competitions in order to get a Season Ranking in that discipline. To get an Overall Ranking a rider must get a Season Ranking in both BoarderX and Freestyle within the same category.
